Jeff Wall








Jeffrey "Jeff" Wall, OC, RSA (born September 29, 1946) is a Canadian artist best known for his large-scale back-lit cibachrome photographs and art history writing. Wall has been a key figure in Vancouver's art scene since the early-1970s. Early in his career, he helped define the Vancouver School and he has published essays on the work of his colleagues and fellow Vancouverites Rodney Graham, Ken Lum and Ian Wallace. His photographic tableaux often take Vancouver's mixture of natural beauty, urban decay and postmodern and industrial featurelessness as their backdrop.

Nel  1972  incontra  Joseph Beuys . Sono gli anni in cui Kiefer inizia una serie di azioni artistiche che definirà "Besetzungen" (Occupazioni). Egli, provocatoriamente, si fa fotografare col braccio teso nel saluto hitleriano davanti a una serie di luoghi della  Germania Ovest  e della  Germania Est

kiki Smith is an American artist who was born in Nuremburg, Germany in 1954. The next year, her family moved to South Orange, New Jersey where she lived with her two younger sisters, mother and father. Her father, Tony Smith, was a minimalist artist, known for his large polyhedron-based structures. Smith and her sisters often spent time assembling paper models of his sculptures. She was exposed to the art world: Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism, and significant contemporary artists including Pollock, Rothko, and Newman from an early age.
